Artist's Statement:
The peace and solitude one finds in the mountains has had a great influence on my life and my work. The mountains have been a source of both great joy and great sorrow for me, perhaps this is why I portray them in an almost eerie grandeur. The images in this mountain series have been shot all over the world, many via helicopter or small plane (doors off!). They have been captured in very remote ares where few humans have stepped foot. It was my passion for skiing that lead me to these remote mountains, which is why most of the images are captured in winter. I love the (color) white for the way that it reflects light. Being surrounded by sparkling white snowy mountains is one of the most spectacular sensations in the world. I wish to bring you along with me to these unique places through this mountain series and to share the sense of wonder I've experienced deep in the mountains.
