Artist's Statement:
Cities are often thought of as noisy, crowded and chaotic places. It was my goal with the Urban Series to capture cities in exactly the opposite way; peaceful, serene, beautiful feats of human architectural achievement. When you stand back and take in a city from a broad perspective you can start to see the parallels between the workings of nature and the workings of humans. The architectural structures humans have built are in fact quite similar to the mountains nature has built. The colors and textures found in cities can also be found in nature. It is clear through the observation of urban environments that humans are greatly influenced by the natural world. There is a peaceful energy to be found in urban environments if you take them in from a bit further back, which is the feeling I wish to convey through this series.
